Prominent economist and author to discuss economic inequity

Jeff Fuhrer, former Executive Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, will discuss his new thought-provoking book, The Myth That Made Us, on Tuesday, October 24 from 7:45-9:15 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Concord. This book exposes how racism and meritocracy have been used to condone egregious economic outcomes and income disparities—and what we can do to fix the system.

Fuhrer will share how systemic racism has shaped the U.S. economy and continues to produce vastly disparate outcomes, and will provide evidence from other developed capitalist economies which shows it doesn’t have to be that way. This event is presented by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Unitil, and includes a Q&A session. Fuhrer’s book will be available for purchase as an optional add-on to your ticket.
