Funds for Education Golf Tournament

On Wednesday, August 7, golfers will line up in carts at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, waiting for the scramble start of the 36th Annual Funds for Education Golf Tournament. Hosted by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce and presented by Breezeline, this tournament attracts business and community leaders from across the Capital Region. Although golfers love the beautiful course, delicious food, and exciting games and contests, the true motivation behind the many participating sponsors, players, and volunteers is the worthy cause this tournament supports. The event’s proceeds fund two vital educational programs: Funds for Education and Capital Area Student Leadership (CASL). These programs offer local students invaluable experiences that build real world skills, introduce them to career opportunities, and inspire them to give back to their communities.

The Chamber’s Funds for Education program provides financing for locally-based education initiatives. A committee of dedicated volunteers selects community-based educational programming that would benefit from additional funds. Selected initiatives typically support practical skill-building and connect students to business leaders in the community, where they can learn about different industries and career opportunities. Capital Area Student Leadership (CASL) is another educational program offered by the Chamber. Generously underwritten by Northeast Delta Dental and supported by the golf tournament, CASL is a highly-immersive program for high school sophomores to meet local professionals and civic leaders, develop leadership skills, and travel outside of the classroom to explore key businesses and government buildings. “I loved getting to meet some business owners in Concord who all had different experiences and knowledge. They were incredibly helpful and gave excellent advice on what to expect while pursuing something difficult and what to do in a work environment, whether you are an employer or employee. I appreciated the fact that each person had a different job and experience in their life, it truly showed how there is not one right way to do things, but it is necessary to try things out your own way for the first time,” said a member of the CASL Class of 2024. Both the Funds for Education and CASL programs would not be possible without eager golfers ready to tee off for a cause at the Chamber’s annual tournament. Players relish a day of camaraderie on the course, pausing for drinks, snacks from Servpro of Concord, and hot dogs grilled by the Duprey Hospitality, LLC team. The event features a variety of complimentary contests, such as longest drive, straightest drive, a putting green contest, and several Hole-In-One contests with high-value prizes. Participants can also join the Zinger contest, fire off the Air Cannon with an additional donation, or further support the cause by purchasing raffle tickets and VIP Golfer Kits.

The tournament culminates in a delicious BBQ luncheon, with awards and door prizes presented in a fun, casual atmosphere. This gathering provides a wonderful opportunity for networking and the Chamber thanks the generous sponsors who make the Chamber’s educational programs possible.
